MOTU MOIE LOCATION

Motu Moie is a private island in the country of French Polynesia, often called Tahiti, its largest island. It is located about 200 miles from the country’s capital city of Papeete. The island/motu is within the shallow waters of the lagoon, on the edge of the protective reef surrounding the islands of Taha’a and Raiatea, about a mile northwest of the local village of Patio, on Taha’a island, a short boat ride from the airport on Raiatea. You can see Bora Bora, from the motu, 15 miles to the west.

Travel to

Motu Moie Location is south of the equator, is the South Pacific Ocean. Flights from the United States and around the world arrive in Papeete daily. The flight from Los Angeles is 8 hours on Air Tahiti Nui, and other international carriers. Once you arrive in Papeete, you transfer to a local 40 minute flight to Raiatea. You are then picked up by our caretaker Eli, or can take a taxi boat to the motu. From the Raiatea airport, it is a 40 minute lagoon boat ride around Taha’a, to Motu Moie. Another way is to take a taxi boat across to Taha’a, and a car taxi around the costal road the island to the village of Patio, just across from Motu Moie. This is a great way to get a feel for the Tahitian culture, and meet the friendly Tahitian locals. Eli can pick you up in Patio, and bring you the short distance across the lagoon to the motu.
